QUINT Centre findings videos

In cooperation with the QUINT Centre leaders and head researchers, I produced 5 videos that highlighted the key research findings from QUINT. The target groups for these videos were the research community, teachers and education policy-makers.

Digital conference: Nordic schools during COVID-19

The COVID pandemic had profound consequences for schools, teachers and students all over the world. How did the Nordic countries handle this challenge, and what can they learn from each other?

Working in collaboration with the QUINT Centre's leadership, researchers, and with politicans and school leaders from across the Nordic countries, I coordinated this online conference and livestream.

The conference guests generated a lively and fruitful discussion. Following the conference the QUINT Centre received requests – from both researchers and politicians – for copies of research publications that were referred to during the event.

A summary of the conference is avaliable at the QUINT webpage. You can also watch a replay of the livestream below.

Annual report: QUINT at a Glance

As the QUINT Centre reached the half-way point in its planned research period, I worked with the leadership to produce a summary of the Centre's work so far.

I collected texts from the nine QUINT projects about their status, as well as articles and information about activities from the previous two years, and comdined these into a magazine style report which I designed.

Carbon Neutral Nordics

One of the most interesting challenges of my communication career has been translating scientific research into information a general audience can understand and use. The Carbon Neutral Nordics campaign is an excellent example of this.

The aim of the campaign was to disseminate the key findings from three flagship research projects on energy, and how these findings contribute to the target set by the Nordic countries to become "carbon neutral."

The often complicated findings from the research projects needed to be presented in an engaging and visual way that was easily accessible. My approach to this challenge was to work with a web developer to create the webpage carbonneutralnordics.org.

Carbonneutralnordics.org was accompanied by a PR outreach campaign to news media in the Nordic countries, conducted by a PR firm who I worked closely with to design the messaging. Several news articles about the research findings were published in newspapers and technical journals across the Nordic region.

Tracking Nordic Clean Energy Progress

The report Tracking Nordic Clean Energy Progress 2020 produced a wealth of interesting figures on the Nordic countries' progress towards carbon neutrality. These figures, while illuminating, were sometimes difficult to desphire. The challenge was to present the information in a way that could be easily consumed on social media, without compromising their scientific significance.

In collaboration with the project leader for the report I designed a series of  'fact cards' based on key findings and figures from Tracking Nordic Clean Energy Progress, which were used as part of the social media strategy for that report.

NordForsk 15 year anniversary

NordForsk had originally planned to celebrate its anniversary with a large event hosting its stakeholders and friends of the organisation.  Since the COVID pandemic made such an event impossible, NordForsk instead devised a mail campaign and asked for my help in the coordination and design.

The goal of the campaign was to give NordForsk's friends and stakeholders a feeling of celebration, while also highlighting the important work the organisation is doing, particularly in relation to the Green Transition and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.  Small packages were sent out to over 400 recipients, which contained

  • a letter from Director Arne Flåøyen

  • a bar of chocolate

  • a brochure highlighting NordForsk-financed projects that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

  • and another brochure containing greetings from high profile stakeholders, with links to videos of their full messages.

My role in the project was coordinating and overseeing the creation of the two brochures as well as writing content, plus producing two video greetings for Arne Flåøyen and Jukka Mähönen respectivly.

Nordic Energy Challenge 2020

The aim of the Nordic Energy Challenge is to give researchers a platform to share their innovative ideas for accelerating the Nordic green transition. To do this under lockdown conditions I, together with my colleagues at Nordic Energy Research, organised a livestream award ceremony to give the three finalists an opportunity to present their research ideas to a wider audience.  The livestream was produced in collaboration with Startup Norway.

My role in the project was promoting the event through social media, the Nordic Energy Research webpage and newsletter, and working on the production of the livestream together with Startup Norway.
